Phoenix Art Space is a vibrant arts organisation in the heart of Brighton, home to over 100 affordable artists’ studios, two public galleries and a year-round programme of free exhibitions and community events. Having recently refreshed their logo, Phoenix approached us to help develop a full visual identity and website that could better reflect their role as a hub for creativity while being practical and easy to manage in-house.
While the refreshed logo gave Phoenix a starting point, the organisation lacked a coherent identity system to bring consistency across digital and print. Their website was also proving difficult to manage, making it hard to keep audiences informed about exhibitions, events and opportunities. Phoenix needed a solution that would save time, streamline content management, and engage their diverse community of artists, visitors and supporters.
We began by reviewing the refreshed brand, identifying how it could be evolved into a broader visual system that worked across all outputs. Through conversations with the team, we explored their needs for both digital and print, and mapped out the user journeys that would connect their online presence to the physical gallery space. We guided Phoenix through each stage of website development, ensuring it was intuitive, easy to update, and flexible for their programme. Alongside this, we built a visual strategy that could be applied consistently to reports, posters and other materials, giving them the tools to communicate clearly and confidently.
The result is a fully realised identity system and a user-friendly website that Phoenix can manage independently. By reducing time spent on updates and providing a consistent brand framework, the team can now focus on delivering exhibitions and community events, while maintaining a recognisable presence across all touchpoints. The new identity reflects Phoenix’s position as a vital creative hub, supporting artists and inspiring audiences across Brighton and beyond.
