The passionate and enigmatic creator of AlchemyFlow, Darren, describes himself as a food activist on a mission to educate people on the holistic connection between mind and body. Producing small-batch ferments for the retail space, Darren needed a brand identity that could carry both his philosophy and his products into the world. The challenge was to create something authentic and distinctive, a brand that could stand out on crowded shelves while also reflecting the spiritual and playful energy at the heart of his work.
We worked with Darren to create a bold new identity that balanced craft with character. Through logo design, packaging, hand-crafted illustrations, an iconography suite, and a storytelling-led website, we built a platform for both his products and his philosophy to flourish.
The fermented food market is competitive, with many brands emphasising “natural” and “authentic” aesthetics. To cut through, AlchemyFlow needed to capture attention with a visual language that felt alive, spiritual, and distinctive, giving Darren a voice that could communicate his activist ethos. The challenge was to design packaging and a brand world that felt handcrafted and meaningful without slipping into cliché, and to ensure that the visual system could flex across product jars, storytelling content, and digital spaces.
We began with a discovery workshop to uncover Darren’s vision, values, and long-term goals. This process allowed us to not only define his design objectives but also refine his tone of voice and brand story, ensuring his message of empowerment and wellness came through clearly.
From there, we conducted market and competitor analysis to identify the visual and tonal gaps within the fermented food sector. This led us to an approach that was playful, bold, and spiritually infused, while still carrying a handmade quality that reflected Darren’s small-batch craft.
We designed a complete brand identity, including logo, typography, colour palette, and a suite of illustrations and icons. Labels for the kimchi and sauerkraut jars became the key touchpoints; vibrant, eye-catching, and designed to spark curiosity on the shelf. Alongside this, we created an engaging website built as a storytelling platform, giving Darren a space to share his philosophy, host workshops, and build a community around his mission.
The new brand identity gave AlchemyFlow a strong and distinctive presence in both retail and digital spaces. Darren’s first products Bang Bang Kimchi and Just In The Leek Of Time Sauerkraut sold out rapidly with each new batch, demonstrating immediate resonance with consumers.
Beyond sales, the brand became a vehicle for Darren’s larger purpose: to grow a community inspired by his message of mind-body wellness and food activism. The playful yet spiritual identity gave him the confidence and tools to share his story, elevate his workshops, and nurture a movement around AlchemyFlow.
